Streamlined building management at Sportcomplex Koning Willem Alexander in Netherlands

Since 2013, RT2000, a system partner of Regin Benelux, has been involved in a major project at the Sportcomplex Koning Willem Alexander in Hoofddorp. Formerly known as Huis van de Sport, this facility has become one of the largest sports complexes in the Netherlands, covering an impressive 20,000 square meters.

The SKWA is a hub of activity, offering a variety of spaces for sports and wellness. The complex includes multiple swimming pools, a sports hall with seating for 1,500 visitors, a gymnastics hall, and a gymnasium with spaces for physiotherapy practices. Additional areas include a sauna, a restaurant and office spaces.

RT2000 has been responsible for integrating a complete solution based on Regin’s portfolio, including advanced building management functionality.

“The mechanical systems include boilers, air handling units, and heat generation, while the electrical systems cover everything from lighting and the building management system to the camera network. Additionally, the pool facilities have been fully automated, including advanced water purification processes”, explains Jan Cobussen, Managing Director at RT2000.

“With an integrated building automation system, it has become possible to achieve a complete overview of all building operations and processes, resulting in energy efficiency and improved indoor climate conditions”, says Jan Cobussen.

Technical solution

The system is built on freely programmable EXOflex and EXOcompact controllers, combined with Regio room units, over 200 M-Bus energy meters, and various field devices. It controls heating, cooling, water treatment, and 16 air handling units. Additionally, the system is connected via Modbus to dosing, booking, and shower installations, ensuring full control of the facility.
