Innovation-driven environment at Lindholmen Science Park in Gothenburg

Lindholmen Science Park, established in 2000, serves as a hub for collaboration between education, society, and industry. Today, several of Sweden’s leading development projects are run here, focusing on the mobility of the future. Since the construction of the building, Regin’s partner SI, in collaboration with Älvstranden Utveckling AB, has been developing an integrated solution for indoor climate control that promotes an innovation-driven environment.

Lindholmen has become one of Gothenburg’s most knowledge-intensive areas. In 2024, approximately 30,000 people visited the area daily, a number expected to grow significantly in the coming years. The main building in the area, Lindholmen Science Park, covers a total area of 40,756 square meters and primarily consists of various types of offices, along with office hotels and retail spaces. The ground floor houses a reception, conference facilities, and a lunch restaurant, contributing to a functional and attractive working environment.

The project's primary challenge has been accommodating diverse operations, each with different ventilation and climate control requirements. It was essential to allow for specific tenant adaptations without the climate zones interfering with each other. To meet these challenges, a comprehensive solution from Regin has been implemented, featuring smart room units that enable efficient zone control.

The indoor climate is essential not only for the work environment but also for the organization's sustainability initiatives. At present, consumption is monitored via M-bus using Regin's open protocol, which provides a detailed overview of resource usage. Moving forward, Älvstranden Utveckling and SI will continue to work on optimizing energy consumption and ensuring sustainable management of district heating, cooling, and ventilation.

Technical solution

The system is based on Regin’s freely programmable controllers, which are integrated with the building management system, Arrigo. In addition, around 200 Regio room units facilitate efficient zone control, complemented by field devices such as sensors and actuators to provide a complete solution.

Short facts

Type of solution: Freely programmable controllers, Regio room units, Arrigo building management system, field devices.
